Growing up in an active household, my love of movement and exercise came early. After experiencing my fair share of injuries throughout my childhood and teen years, naturally I was drawn toward physiotherapy as I began to consider future careers. Thanks to a basketball scholarship and a sense of adventure, I moved to Alberta to further pursue my goal of becoming a physiotherapist, completing my undergraduate degree in Kinesiology, and eventually my Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Alberta.

Post-graduation, my additional learning has focused on athletes and their injury recovery, including Functional Dry Needling, biomechanics and first responder training. Prior to joining the team at Renew, I had the privilege of working with the top sports medicine specialists and orthopedic surgeons of central Alberta, learning and growing in my understanding of the human body. This experience also led to me having the unique opportunity of working with some of the top national physiotherapists, athletic therapists, and sport medicine physicians at the Canada Winter Games in 2019. I love working with all types of individuals, from elite level athletes to someone unable to perform daily activities, and anyone in between. My practical experience ranges from sporting injuries, post-operative care, chronic pain, and minor aches and discomforts, in addition to motor vehicle and workplace injuries.

JAMIN’S PHILOSOPHY I truly believe that there are only a few injuries or conditions that cannot be improved by exercise. My treatment style focuses on movement and activity to expedite your recovery and get you back to doing what you love. I use manual therapy and Dry Needling (IMS) to assist in getting you more comfortable and in less pain, to make exercising easier. My goal for you is one of long-term health, rather than just short-term fixes. I give individualized education and attention to any concern or issue in a one-on-one setting to ensure that your needs are met each and every appointment.

I have always been very active in sports and recreation since I was a child, and that came with my fair share of injuries over the years! Physiotherapy has always helped to keep me participating in rock climbing, skiing, snowboarding, and yoga - activities that I love! This inspired me to become a physiotherapist and learn how to rehab myself and pass on my knowledge and experience to help others too!

I completed my undergraduate and research graduate degrees at the University of Toronto, and later my physiotherapy graduate degree at Dalhousie University. I’m dedicated to lifelong learning and stay up to date with the most recent research and rehabilitation guidelines. I enjoy using a combination of manual therapy, needling, cupping and exercise as part of my physiotherapy care.

For those requiring a Chinese-speaking physiotherapist, I am fluent in both English and Cantonese, and conversational in Mandarin.
